CLUB ACTIVITIES

CLUB EVENINGS

Alppikerho has organized club evenings from the 1960s until today. We are proud to continue the 60-year tradition and we consider club evenings to be one of the most important events organized by the club. We want to bring together people interested in mountain activities, regardless of club or sport background, to get inspired and get advice and tips for doing their own thing. The club evenings have dealt with various aspects of climbing trips as well as technical skills and safety skills. So far, we have learned about the alpine climbing from Juho Knuuttila, arctic hiking from Paula Strengell, climbing in Patagonia from Lauri Hämäläinen, learned about videography guided by Alvi Pakarinen and received snow safety information from Jarkko Henttonen. Club evenings always have one or more speakers and at the end of the evening there is time for questions and discussion. The conversation is often rich and the evenings are a good way to get to know other enthusiasts of the sport.

Club evenings are also open to non-members, everyone is welcome. So bring your friends! If you would like to suggest a topic or a guest, or would like to give a presentation yourself, please contact info@alppikerho.fi.

CLIMBING TRIPS AND MEETINGS

If possible, the Alppikerho also organizes climbing meetings on (nearby) climbing crags and icefalls, as well as inexpensive member trips to Finland and abroad. In recent years, trips have been made to, for example, Korouoma, Lyngen, Rjukan, the Dolomites, Mont Blanc and Chamonix, as well as the Haute Route. We will inform you about these in the newsletter, on the homepage and Facebook page, as well as on Instagram.

Do you have a wish for a destination or would you perhaps like to organize a joint trip? Contact info@alppikerho.fi and we'll talk more!

CLIMBING COURSES

Alppikerho organizes mainly on-demand courses. That is, if you and your friends have a need for training, we will organize a course for our members at a member's price and customized according to need, led by a professional instructor. Examples of courses: Beginner course (indoor/outdoor), lead course (indoor/outdoor), rock climbing course, tree climbing course, ice climbing course, drytooling course, aid climbing course. Are you interested? Contact info@alppikerho.fi and we'll look into it further!

Alppikerho also organizes courses in cooperation with other operators. Read more about them in the section Member benefits

WORKSHOPS

Alppikerho also organizes Workshops on various topics. Workshops have included e.g. rescue, hoists and drytooling. Depending on the instructors and location costs, the workshops are either free or at a member's price. Information about them and how to register will be provided in the newsletter, homepage, Facebook page and Instagram when the dates are confirmed.

OWN CLUB SPACE

Alppikerho had an office at the Olympic Stadium before the renovation of the stadium. Ever since we had to move club’s property into a paid warehouse we have been looking for a replacement space. We are looking for a space that we could use as a living room for alpine club members and even build our own (small) bouldering cave! We haven't found a reasonable club space yet, but if you have an idea or want to be involved in this, please contact info@alppikerho.fi.

MEMBER BENEFITS

In addition to various trips and club evenings, alpine club members also have other member benefits. Read more about them in the section Member benefits
